Findings of a preliminary study conducted among skilled instructors at Jabatan Penjara or Prison Department (Pride) in Malaysia showed that vocational program, is among the main programmes in Human Development Program in Pride that has given less emphasis on social value development in prisoner skill teaching and learning, misunderstands the implementation of spiritual and social value, less exposed towards knowledge integration, lacks awareness of spiritual and social value, and requires motivation and guideline for instructors’ career path. These issues may have a relationship with the increment of recidivist cases every year. Hence, this research was conducted to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of training program using a Holistic Approach for Prison’s Skill Training Module (PHPP Training Module). The aim of the training program is to provide awareness and train 593 Pride vocational instructors (Assistant Officer of Vocational Training and Trade Warder) towards the application of social and spiritual value integration in the prisoner rehabilitation program holistically through skill activities. Content of the training module is aligned with the aims of the rehabilitation process. A multiphase mixed method design comprising three phases was implemented. In the phase to develop PHPP Training Module’s Construct, eight participants from Pride were interviewed and five constructs were identified that based on the Integral Theory and Islamisation of Knowledge Theory: Believing in God, Subjective Quality, Objective Quality, Social Quality and Culturing Quality. Each construct was transformed into module activities. The phase of Endorsement Content validity of the PHPP Training Module was evaluated by four experts. Findings of the pilot study from 42 skilled instructors showed significantly high value of alpha Cronbach (0.98) for the content. The person reliability value was high (0.94), while item reliability was at the medium level (0.68). Most of the items were in the range of infit/ outfit Mean Square and fit/ outfit z-standard. The phase of measuring the effectiveness of PHPP Training Module involved 92 skilled instructors. Findings from 89 respondents that were applicable showed that the overall content of the PHPP Training Module has high mean value. Findings of pre-test and post-test indicated significant increment of effectiveness for the constructs of Objective Quality, Social Quality and Culturing Quality. Six out of eight correlational relationships measured also showed increment to the level of correlational strength. However, correlational relationship for the construct of Believing in God towards the Culturing Quality and the Culturing Quality towards Subjective Quality did not show any improvement. In conclusion, this research has come out with a new development process model, and proved that there are correlations between the training module constructs, showing that the PHPP Training Module can be used to develop the professionalism of Pride skilled instructors in the prison of Malaysia

Social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram are nowadays a common medium of communication which is often the choice of every segment of society from different age levels. This situation has led many to become addicted to social media. Social media addiction refers to compulsive and excessive use of social media even when the use of those platforms is taking over one’s life and has a negative impact on real-life and relationships. Therefore, this study was conducted by identifying two objectives which are to identify the causes of social media use and to analyze the effects of social media addiction among Malaysians. The research methodology used was qualitative analysis by applying the library method and reading and referencing from previous studies such as journals, theses, articles, papers, and websites related to the subject of the study. The results show that Malaysians are addicted to social media due to a lack of self-discipline, easy access to the Internet, influential peers, and economic market conditions. These causes lead to a domino effect, which will impact our physical health, social interaction, education, and employment. This paper also suggests improvements and actions that could be taken to curb the problem and thus provide alternatives to manage the issue

    Get PDF
Taxonomy is a set of hierarchical models that is applied to classify educational learning goals or objectives into a certain level of complexity. Many models have been developed and implemented to suit the educational settings of schools or educational institutions around the world. Realising the importance of educational taxonomy, the purpose of this paper is to explore the function and role of the taxonomy framework used in education, especially through the lens of Bloom, Anderson and SOLO’s (Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome) framework. In addition, this concept paper also aims to formulate a more holistic alternative taxonomy based on the concept of Syed Muhammad Naquib Al-Attas. Research on Bloom, Anderson and SOLO’s taxonomies is not intended to deny the role and contribution of existing taxonomies, but to provide an alternative and space in creating a balanced system of cognitive classification of students through teaching and learning as well as in the evaluation system

Nozzle sprays are used in wide range of application. The used of nozzle application is depend on the spray characteristics, by which to suit the particular application. This project studies the effect of the air blockage ratio to the spray characteristics. This research conducted into two part which are experimental and simulation section. The experimental was conducted by using particle image velocimetry (PIV) method, and ANSYS software was used as tools for simulation section. There are two nozzles were tested at 1 bar pressure of water and air. Nozzle A (with blockage ratio 0.316) and nozzle B (blockage ratio 1.000). Both of the sprays performances generated by the nozzles was examined at 9 cm vertical line from 8 cm of the nozzle orifice. The validation result provided in the detailed analysis shows that the trend of graph velocity versus distance gives the good agreement within simulation and experiment. From result, nozzle A generated a wider spray angle and higher water droplet velocity which are 31.41 degree and 37.317 m/s compared to nozzle B which has produced 27.13 degree of spray penetration angle and 16.49 m/s water droplet velocity. As a conclusion, blockage ratio has affected the spray system by increasing the velocity of air inside the spray system. This is happened at a condition of 1 bar air pressure
